  1. We use visible light for data transfer and have for years.

    I helped pioneer the use of lower frequencies mobile networks while at Bell Labs which are used widely in the developing world for basic low cost communications. What he fails to mention is that mobile nets can concatenate frequencies to achieve larger and larger pipes.

    Low frequencies are needed for large land mass, low density communications as lower frequencies have better propagation characteristic. This is a far bigger need in much of the world.
