Constitutional violation? Or necessary evil?
In this case the 'rationale' was clear, and I wouldn't argue that police didn't have the best intentions. But this just proves what level of power the US police now have: people were ordered to stay home, businesses were ordered not to open, a no-fly zone was declared, roads were barricaded and house-to-house searches were conducted.
I repeat, the authorities did this with the best intentions. But how can we always trust that they will have our best intentions in mind?
We are a single act away from a police state. So what 'act' determines when total state control is required? The answer is subjective...and that's the problem.
