Financial bloggers tend to be people with finance backgrounds with a mission to speak the truth, whereas financial reporters tend to be journalists that are navigating the world of finance. Both bring different skills to the table.

Also, bloggers are viciously independent, whereas many big media companies are restricted (implicitly) by their big advertising accounts.

The challenge with the blogosphere is credibility. Are bloggers fact checking? Are bloggers talking their book? Obviously, ‘reader beware’ applies more than ever.
