Mohamed El-Erian: How to handle the sovereign debt explosion

One thing I’ve learned about the PIMCO folks is that they understand the big picture. They are able to spot emerging economic trends to predict where the world is headed. Often, people get caught up by the individual pixels that they fail to see the complete image. You don’t need to know how many shades of gray exist in the Mona Lisa to recognize that you’re looking at the Mona Lisa.

At present this is being viewed primarily – and excessively – through the narrow prism of Greece. Down the road, it will be recognised for what it is: a significant regime shift in advanced economies with consequential and long-lasting effects. To stay ahead of the process, we should keep the following six points in mind.”
