With Greece announcing cuts that will reduce its budget deficit by 2% of GDP, it is important to step back to see how the country got here. Greece’s austerity measures are already being met with fierce opposition across the general public, as Greek citizens are now likely to feel significant financial pain for the next few years. This is a situation best avoided, but it may already be too late for many other countries.
