Kaufmann recently conducted research looking at the views and opinions of economic bloggers and published their findings in a report entitled: Kauffman Economic Outlook A QUARTERLY SURVEY OF LEADING ECONOMICS BLOGGERS

The findings unveil what one might expect from typically cynical bloggers – things are not right. One must remember that people write when there’s something to write about…and good news doesn’t sell papers. So results from research may be biased to the downside.

Nevertheless, it’s worth a look. Here’s one finding: 48% of bloggers believe the US economy is worse off than what government statistics suggest.

It’s true that good news doesn’t sell, but I don’t believe that’s the reason that folks aren’t buying the official stats.
On the street, people can see for themselves that things have not gotten better. They are still seeing the effects of foreclosures and the waves of unemployment. Folks don’t have jobs, they are losing their houses, and most people have had to scale back considerably. From my family’s view in the Midwest, even McDonald’s is not hiring……

I am a perpetual optimist. But I believe that when there are strong economic stirrings, they will appear as seedlings on the ground floor. The economy will begin looking positive, even if the unemployment numbers stay the same or get worse, when small businesses begin sprouting again.
    Good Luck to all.
